I BELIEVE CREATIVE LEADERSHIP BEGINS WITH BELIEF.

LEADERSHIP

Belief in the work.
Belief in the team.
Belief that design is not decoration, but direction.

Design has the power to shift perception, influence behaviour, and strengthen a business from the inside out. But that only happens when there is clarity behind it.

Over the past 27 years across Canadian and U.S. brands, I have led multidisciplinary teams spanning design, production, copy, imaging, digital, PR, social, and manufacturing partners. Within studio environments, I structured teams, built workflows alongside project management, hired and mentored designers, and held final creative accountability.

I was entrusted with final creative and strategic decisions, particularly at pivotal moments. Repositioning. Regulatory change. Portfolio expansion. When clarity mattered more than preference.

I build systems that allow brands to grow without losing coherence.

In highly regulated markets such as cannabis, leadership required structured agility. Regulations shifted. SKUs multiplied. Retail realities were unpredictable. The solution was not more noise, but stronger architecture. Packaging became a strategic framework that allowed expansion without confusion. Strategy became a stabilizing force inside a fast-moving business.

To me, strategy and creativity are inseparable. Strategy sharpens focus. It synthesizes insight, constraint, ambition, and opportunity. Creative gives that thinking form and emotion. It gives teams something to stand behind and businesses something to scale.

In reviews, I return to simple questions. Will the consumer notice? Will they care? Does this communicate the difference instantly? What does it make someone feel?

When those answers are clear, creative decisions become decisive.

I have influenced pricing models, packaging architecture, production efficiencies, and margin structures. I work closely with manufacturers and printers, domestic and international, to understand what is possible and what will scale. Constraint often reveals opportunity. Strong systems protect margin while strengthening brand recognition.

Designers who have worked with me often say they learned what an idea truly is and how to defend it. I cultivate confidence in creative teams. I am direct and empathetic. I move quickly. I protect my team when needed and expect rigor in return.

Creative leadership fails when vision is unclear and teams feel unsupported. It succeeds when people understand what they are building together and why it matters.

My role is not to be the most creative person in the room.

It is to build clarity, strengthen teams, and make more leaders.

If you’re shaping the next chapter of a brand and value thoughtful, experienced creative leadership, I’d welcome the conversation.

Perspectives

“Working with Michelle fundamentally reshaped how we saw our brand. What began as a packaging project became clarity, confidence, and a strategic foundation that continues to guide our decisions.

The packaging architecture and brand system separated us on shelf, won buyers over, and gave investors something to rally behind. Glenn’s has grown year over year and is now one of the top-performing gummy brands across multiple provinces.”

Dylan Cooper, Owner, Glenn’s Edibles

“Before working with Michelle, our brand direction felt scattered. She helped us reposition Pain Punch not just as pain relief, but as a daily anti-inflammatory integrated into everyday life.

Her process sharpened our brand persona and gave us a marketing foundation we could execute with confidence. I finished the process clear, supported, and aligned in how we communicate.”

Dr. Andrew Hyman, Owner, Pain Punch

“After 15 years in business, our branding no longer reflected the strength of our product. Michelle led a rebrand that clarified our positioning and brought cohesion to our packaging and communications.

Since the rebrand, our product stands out confidently on shelves across Canada. Sales increased by over 200% in new markets that picked us up post-launch, and overall sales rose by up to 30%.

Michelle translated our vision into a system that performs.”

Zoey Shamai, Owner, Tonica Kombucha

"Michelle leads with clarity and creativity, pairing sharp design instincts with a deep understanding of brand. She knows how to elevate ideas, bring fresh perspectives, and guide teams toward meaningful, memorable outcomes.

Working with Michelle is a piece of brioche (cake is far too common). Professional, strategic with an attention to detail, Michelle combines pretty much everything you’d want in a creative with pretty much everything you’d want in a human being. Like I said, brioche.
